Concert Summary

After distinguishing himself and achieving a level of recognition in Europe, like Eric Clapton before him, Peter Green departed John Mayall's Bluesbreakers in 1967, freeing himself of employment and artistic restrictions. However, unlike most of the British guitar greats, Green was never concerned with flash or becoming a guitar superstar. This humble attitude and his approach to music made him one of the most compelling…entire summary

Ah Wolfgang! Another gorgeous version of Albatross. Brings me back to my high school days and
that's early 69; I must have listened to this single hundreds of time. Mike Vernon and his label Blue Horizon have kept the British blues boom alive until the end of the decade.

I remember this concert had "I Have a Good Mind to Give Up Living"

    What happened.

Should have bought it when I saw it. Its supposedly the best version of this song.

I would have loved seeing this lineup of Fleetwood Mac i saw them in 73 when Kirwan was playing with Bob Welch on guitars i just remember the first time i heard Then Play On and remembering how great those three guitars sounded what a band for the ages.

@Boogerwolves...You are joking that there only 2 other white bluesmen that play better than PG and those are his bandmates...Hello? They ARE awesome, but I think Duane Allman,Stevie Ray,Rory Gallagher,Mick Taylor,Jeff Beck come immediately to mind as superior to Kirwan and Spencer...Not to mention Roy Buchanan,Sonny Landreth,Jimmy Page and EC...

With that said it is a toss up between Allman Bros and Fleetwood Mac as to was the best blues jam band of '69-'70,hence ALL TIME...The Allman's with two drummers, twin leads of Duan/Betts,Greg's voice...Amazing shit...BUT,when Mick and Mac get thunder and lightening going as rumbling back drop to Peter and Danny's improv the result is UNFUCKINGBELIEVEABLE....Stevie Ray Vaughn,Jeff Beck, tho' unbelievable MONSTERS,(possibly better than P Green...) are NOT bands like Allmans and FM...Rock on y'all!

Wondering if the 1/31/70 show was recorded too. This would be the night before this recording at the Warehouse. There is a version on youtube of I've Got a Mind to Give Up Living/ All Over Now from the Warehouse show on 1/31/70. Peter Green's playing on this is without a doubt the best.

Saw the Band at Fillmore West in about 1970 shortly after Then Play On came out. Unbelievable. We were soaked with sweat by the time their set was over.

Peter Green. Nobody touches him. He's so awesome dude. Jeez. Green was his own man. Hearing all these live shows is a real treat. His solo on Merry Go Round off the first album keeps messing me up bad. Love his voice to. Thanks.
