Concert Summary

After distinguishing himself and achieving a level of recognition in Europe, like Eric Clapton before him, Peter Green departed John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, freeing himself of employment and artistic restrictions. However, unlike most of the British guitar greats, Green was never concerned with flash or becoming a guitar superstar - an attitude that made him one of the most compelling…entire summary

Minor observation here. Eric Clapton hadn't even recorded "Have You Ever Loved A Woman", at this point, much less become synonymous with it.

Fleetwood Mac. BEFORE Buckingham and Nicks puked all over the band and ruined it.

As I recall, Fleetwood Mac, at the Fillmore East, would open for Savoy Brown. I saw them at least twice. A great night of Boogie & Blues!

Respectfully, sabbath410, there's no way that The Zombies played garage rock. Wikipedia has a good definition: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garage_rock

To me Fleetwood Mac were the quessisential garage band of thier era.Notably, the "Zombies" with "Time of the season" or "The Troggs" with "Wild Thing" have been heralded as garage at its best.I have always put the "Mac" high on a pedistel above these two bands. Not taking anything away from these bands, but Fleetwood Mac took them hands down. With Greens fluent guitar playing and Spencers dead on slide work Its no wonder they were so influencial on bands later on."Notably Aerosmith and even Led Zeppelin to a point" I saw Peter Green back up his old band leader John Mayall a few years ago at the Roxy in Boston Mass a few years ago and unfortunetly he was kind of out of it.Im not saying he was lousy, but he just seemed lost at times. At moments he would get that old brilliance, but would drift off.I remember the drummer,I think it was Cozy Powell yelling to him a couple of times to come back to the groove.I actually felt bad,He was so good, but the acid really messed him up.Any ways ,thanks to the vault for letting me relive his glory days.

peter green is an incredible talent. It's a shame he disappeared from the music scene for so many yaers. I am grateful to the vault for making this concert available. I was fortunate enough to grow up listening to him. his work with splinter group, although decent, will never match his early years. jeremy spencer, danny kirwin, later bob welch all owe a lot to peter green
