Concert Summary

This outstanding early performance by Fleetwood Mac occurred only a week into their first visit to the United States, when Peter Green was only 21 years old. Falling right between the release of their self-titled debut album and their follow-up, Mr. Wonderful, this show captures the band in its early incarnation, when they were still a quartet - and one of the Crusaders of the late '60s English blues movement. …entire summary

This message is coming to you from paulyr. I have liked and admired Peter Green ever since listening to his work with Mayall. This was back in my middle teen years back in the early '70s. He produces a nice guitar tone that seems to me to capture the feeling of the American Blues masters. I have his 1999 cd, 'Destiny Road,' and have about worn it out listening to it. Green is definitely up there with Clapton, Allman, Beck, Cropper and other 'white boys' who've perfected their guitar playing by absorbing the styles of those black artists of American Blues, James, Johnson and others.

On this set list, #8 'Jam'... Is this the beat/tune that the USC marching band tries to replicate ?

The person who went on about the "raw tape with no production ever" misses the point in such a big way. This is very special music and we are lucky to be able to hear it. How he/she can comment on the sound quality whilst failing to mention the heart wrenching clarity and brilliance of Peter's guitar playing is beyond me.

BB King said that of all the british guitar heroes his favorite was Peter Green. Not EC, Page, etc.

Peter Green, and Mike Bloomfield. Has any two guitarist put so much into one note. This just shows the Blues has no color. Great stuff.

While I'm always more than a bit uncomfortable reading reviews that elevate one undeniably immense talent at the expense of another (Green vs Clapton, etc...)I must say that I've never once felt my time was wasted, no matter the chore, when it is accompanied by the hauntingly, spine-chilling emotion which pours out of each note carefully strangled from the fretboard by the amazing fingers of the "Green God." Peter Green is, was, and will always remain a talent that is truly touched by powers from beyond. As the great blues godfather B.B. King once famously said, "...Peter Green is the only guitarist that ever made me sweat..." And there's nothing more cleansing and invigorating as a good sweat...

I agree with ejdevo about the heartfelt music ability shown by both Duane Allman and Peter Green. I loved this era "Fleetwood Mac". I have acquired the boxed set of "Fleetwood Mac - The Blue Horizon Era (1967-1969", 6 "Killer" CDs. I saw Duane play on many occasions, at the Park in Atlanta several times and in concert twice. He DID feel every note. I regret that I have never seen Peter play in person. It would be a real treat!
