Fishbone

One of the first bands to meld metal, ska, funk and punk rock into a likable mix, Fishbone emerged from the same Los Angeles rock scene that molded greats Red Hot Chili Peppers and Jane's Addiction. Their debut 1985 album, In Your Face, made waves in the underground community, drawing fans of soon-to-be superstars like No Doubt and Sublime. Fishbone's '88 followup, Truth and Soul, was more successful commercially and established the band as a popular cult group in the LA area. Fishbone released a couple of albums in the '90s, keeping diehards happy but failing to break into mainstream. Releasing Live at the Temple Bar and More Fishbone in 2002, the band continues to make music and tour happily but hasn't quite gained the popularity of other LA bands.
