Concert Summary

Recorded at the end of his Slowhand '77/'78 tour, this blistering Eric Clapton show, originally recorded for the King Biscuit Flower Hour radio show, is an excellent example of how amazing a live artist the man had become by the late 1970s. Freed of his drug and alcohol demons, Clapton had finally assembled a backup band that gave him both the freedom both to step forward and control the starlight or sink into the cohesion of being just another member of the band.

From his legendary Derek and the Dominoes band,…entire summary

I seeDick fairly often these days. I told him "I want in your head " "Oh no you don't"
    OH BUT i do.
I'm in Tulsa, Quite the bastion of ALL these artists.
I was born 10 years too late. '47 would have been a better year.
Leon, Marcella, Carl, Dick, Sweet Emily the list goes on . Oh yeah almost forgot j.o.drum. If you can get your hands on the latest "collectors edition of "Tulsa People....The WHOLE mag is the influence of the "Tulsa sound"
    Cheers

As luck would have it, I think I've been born right into the best of times...so much "to the quick" music and nakedness inside and out...we can't fix it all, but we can try...

There was a saying years ago Clapton is God, I don't know about that but he will become God's lead guitar!!!

I love it how Eric is never shy about saying "God Bless" to the audience as he usually does at the end of his live show. I've noteced that over the years.

Thanks Mr. Clapton; right back at you always...

I was there for both shows, which were great, since this was during his heavy drinking period, wish both shows would come out on a double cd, also remember the pouring rain that weekend, met Marcy about a year later after she had left the band, lost touch, then reconnected in early 2000, been friends and have done some gigs with her. slammer

Eric Clapton is a survivor, in the best sense of the word. He has said his goodbyes to family and friends more than any man should have to, and still he marches on. Lets all be thankful for his musical voice, his integrity, his guitar genius. Eric continues to play with so many different talents and guitar greats, he is amazingly generous with his time and talent! We are all better for his incredible journey! Please don't ever count Eric out of a guitar duel, this 'gun-slinger' may be older, but his draw is still the quickest on any stage! Long live Eric Clapton! He may not be 'God', as he was called in the '60's, but he is surely one of God's chosen guitar angels!

Even if this is a great show from the '78 tour, the comment about "freed of his drug and alcohol demons..." makes me laugh. There are some '78 shows featuring a VERY drunken Clapton out there (Glasgow '78 for one) and in his own biography he admits he wasn't free of his alcoholism until he went into rehab in 1982.
