Concert Summary

Though he only did three songs as lead vocalist, Eric Clapton played on several tracks, backing other superstars such as Mark Knopfler and Elton John, at this landmark charity concert. Although this hastily assembled supergroup couldn't play Clapton's material quite as well as his own highly seasoned band could, several of the members came from the Clapton band, so they sound undeniably strong. "Behind The Mask" was a single from Clapton's most recent album, August, which was released in England in 1986 but failed to produce a true hit single. The other two tracks, "Cocaine" and…entire summary

I beg to differ with the review. With the exception of Elton John and Mark Knopfler, the rest of the musicians listed here(Clapton "Supergroup")- Nathan East, Steve Ferrone, Ray Cooper and Alan Clark were at that time Clapton's regular touring band...
I had the opportunity to cook for them(without Clapton) on several different nights when I was Sous Chef at "Stringfellows" in Coconut Grove,Florida(July 1990). They stayed in Miami for a week and would come to the club on their nights off(walking distance from their hotel). I finally met Clapton at The Grand Bay Hotel on their last day in town(July 27, 1990).
He was gracious enough to take a picture with me(I had my arm draped across his shoulder...Yeah!!) Needless to say, I was floating on cloud 9 as I walked out the front door of that hotel, headed back to work for another night in the kitchen...

The best guitar intro ever - Duane Allman was genius! And, the guitar solo in Layla, along with the piano, has never failed to put me into a blissful state of mind. No matter how stressed I am, when the guitar/piano portion starts playing....I am calmed.
