Concert Summary

The British blues rocker plays it safe with a hit-filled set of radio classics for this concert, originally recorded for the King Biscuit Flower Hour. Opening with a lengthy piano intro, he breaks into a jumpin' version of "Tulsa Time," which is followed by a very soulful rendition of Bob Marley's "I Shot The Sheriff." Clocking in at over seven minutes, it features one of the best solos of the entire show. The always beautiful "Wonderful Tonight" provides the show's anchor ballad, and sounds as touching here as it did when Clapton…entire summary

My first EC show was later in this '85 tour at Riverbend in Cincinnati. Still in my top 5 all time shows! Love Forever Man

Heard this concert in '85,on the radio, taped it and have loved this version of Wonderful Tonight the best ever since, was sad many years ago when the old cassette I had taped it on finally broke. Have heard later versions that are pretty, lot's slower, but without the passion of this one. I finally found it! It's funny after all these years I can tell it's the exact version I had.

This is one of my favorite of Eric's many Bands.
The great Duck Dunn handles the low end on Bass.
    Very nice.

What I really love about EC is that he represents so MANY DIFFERENT styles of music, and hasn't forgotten one to move on to the other. Think about "From the Cradle"--25 years after he put out anything resembling the blues on vinyl, he comes out with a true, hard core blues album. Now I know he had some blues singles thrown in on some of his newer albums, so don't bash me by saying "Hey, what about this and that"! I truly think 461 Ocean Blvd is his overall best album, but whenever I play any one of his others, it's always a treat because it's always such a different style than any others. By the way, the reason I felt the need to give such a thorough description of my feelings for Clapton here was because I just got done listening to his solo on "I Shot The Sheriff" from this concert, and was feeling somewhat blown away.
