Interview Summary

As a legendary guitarist, Eric Clapton has few peers. Even in 1975, relatively early on in a career that continues to this day, he was already able to reminisce about working with Bob Dylan, Carlos Santana, Duane Allman, Jimmy Page, and Jimi Hendrix. He was touring in support of There's One in Every Crowd at the time with a band that was assembled for the previous year's release of 461 Ocean Boulevard partly as a reaction to his distaste with the supergroup format. And, at least here, it sounds like they were having fun.

Indeed, this recording works almost as well…entire summary

2 simple comments, actually 3. 1st: thanks to all who recommended to skip the first part, essential. 2nd: the lady conducting the interview is a moron beyond her fascination with heady dribble, 3rd: Eric is a SAINT for allowing the interview to continue past introductions and pleasantries. A shame...

I have listened to 30 minutes of utter nonsense so far. I thought this would be an interesting interview with EC instead of listening to this stupid self-involved woman more interested in the sound of her own voice than discussing music. Does this rambling rubbish go anywhere?

I could only listen to the first half of this, who was the guy who kept muttering yeah yeah yeah when she was giving her opinions about everything. This was painful

I agree with every single comment

What a shame that not only did Mary do most of the talking, but she several times failed to comprehend his answers. I preyed that just once she'd ask an intelligent follow-up question... like how did you discover the work of Rob't Johnson? Or, what do you think of Salingers short stories? But alas all she heard was how his comments meshed with her life's experiences. A rare opportunity squandered, what a pity!

Obviously Mary has little or no experience in extracting what makes Eric Clapton the man he is. I learned more about Mary then I did Eric. Having said that, what really surprises me is, what ever possesed Eric Clapton to allow a bimbo like Mary to interview him in the first place!!!! Is there something more going on here?

It's true, Mary really thinks she is a superstar. What a bore.

you think she is obnoxious and pretentious here, listen to her interview with Zappa

I used to have this on 8-track tape I got off the radio. I was only an hour long show and with all the commercials it amounted to 40-45 minutes. I can see why now it was cut short and I also see why Eric didn't do many interviews later on in the '70's. I felt like she wanted to join his friggin band or something. I don't think Peter, Paul and Mary was in the same universe as EC.

As I've said on the main feedback,I agree with nello, this is a perfect slice of history.Shoot who didn't know this was the mary of Peter,Paul & Mary? Her voice alone gives it away.
