Interview Summary

As a legendary guitarist, Eric Clapton has few peers. Even in 1975, relatively early on in a career that continues to this day, he was already able to reminisce about working with Bob Dylan, Carlos Santana, Duane Allman, Jimmy Page, and Jimi Hendrix. He was touring in support of There's One in Every Crowd at the time with a band that was assembled for the previous year's release of 461 Ocean Boulevard partly as a reaction to his distaste with the supergroup format. And, at least here, it sounds like they were having fun.

Indeed, this recording works almost as well…entire summary

Eric could not shine Terry Kath's shoes. Have you ever heard the solo on 25 or 6 to 4, it is un attainable by any human!

The only player cited by Jimi Hendrix as a better player than himself . " I'm good , but this cat blows me away. Enough said!

God, is this broad's voice irritating! Imagine being married to this harridan? :-) At first I thought it was Alison Steele (late night dj on WNEW-FM, New York City back then). Alas, it wasn't. :-(

Can you imagine what a quality, interesting interiew it would've been had the "Night Bird" conducted the interview with E.C.? Even still some interesting tidbits to be had from the interview. For example: Zimmy? "Who is Zimmy," I said to myself? It's a nickname for Bob Dylan (real name: Robert Allen Zimmerman, oi vey!). :-)

Whoever this broad that is interviewing Clapton, she comes off condescending and a bit obnoxious.

Over an hr.& I thought this interview was about EC not so much of Mary's Career.Sure would have been nice to hear more about Duane & R.Johnson as well as the many other's whom inspired Eric.No doubt you can hear the pain of his great loss through the music of this Legend.

2 simple comments, actually 3. 1st: thanks to all who recommended to skip the first part, essential. 2nd: the lady conducting the interview is a moron beyond her fascination with heady dribble, 3rd: Eric is a SAINT for allowing the interview to continue past introductions and pleasantries. A shame...

I have listened to 30 minutes of utter nonsense so far. I thought this would be an interesting interview with EC instead of listening to this stupid self-involved woman more interested in the sound of her own voice than discussing music. Does this rambling rubbish go anywhere?

I could only listen to the first half of this, who was the guy who kept muttering yeah yeah yeah when she was giving her opinions about everything. This was painful

  • Claystone1 | Sunday, February 22, 2009 | 6:14 pm

I agree with every single comment

What a shame that not only did Mary do most of the talking, but she several times failed to comprehend his answers. I preyed that just once she'd ask an intelligent follow-up question... like how did you discover the work of Rob't Johnson? Or, what do you think of Salingers short stories? But alas all she heard was how his comments meshed with her life's experiences. A rare opportunity squandered, what a pity!
