Concert Summary

This very early live recording of Emmylou Harris and the Hot Band was made at London's New Victoria Theater, when the budding country-rocker was still an opening act.

Only 26-minutes long, the set is still a very good overview of what Harris and the early "Hots" sounded like. Harris was discovered singing in a Washington bar in 1972 by former Byrd Chris Hillman, who was then fronting …entire summary

Saw Emmylou in '72, again in the '80s and last Thurs (10/21/09). I'm still madly in love with her!!!!

Saw her about this time...she was opening for Leo Kotke. The line-up should've been reversed. She was amazing, with the Hot Band. Such a great combo of country and pop and folkie singer/songwriter influences--thanks for this wonderful sample!

Emmylou is a great singer, songwriter and human being who is gifted with the message that we can all benefit from. We love you, Emmylou

I did not see tyis show, but in 1978 caught Emmylou warming up the crowd for Willie & Famly in Biloxi Ms.I was just 19 then, and will allways remember this very lovely lady in a black dress singing like no-one I had ever heard before. I have seen her performe each chance I've had thru the past 30 years. She, like wine, improves with time.

Great Concert, This is about as good as it gets and it got real good for the Hot Band, Yes it was early but just pick a show and listen they were always great musicians and Emmy Lou is the difference of a great singer and an Outstanding Vocalist.

An excellent show from a young Emmy Lou - just a few months earlier I had seen her as a support act. The sound is very good and an excellent choice of songs. The musicianship of her Hot Band is absolutely fantastic. The pedal steel rings loud and clear - and as for James Burton on guitar - well what more could be said - check out the solo on Shoppin' Around.
