Concert Summary

In terms of inspired creativity and groundbreaking technology, Emerson, Lake and Palmer will always be remembered for their first four studio albums, which far and away surpassed the commercial success of any other progressive rock act of the 1970s. One of the first so called supergroups of the decade, the band consisted of former Nice keyboard virtuoso Keith Emerson, bassist and lead vocalist of the initial King Crimson lineup, Greg Lake, and Atomic Rooster's drummer extraordinaire, Carl Palmer. Collectively the trio created a monstrous high precision sound that incorporated keyboard and…entire summary

I saw the "Brain Salad" tour at the Garden. And the show was unbelievable! I had seats to the left of the stage nearest to Emerson. Unforgettable night!

I caught them twice on this 73-74 tour; at the beginning, and at the end, in Baltimore, and in Landover MD. ELP always put on the most incredible live performances. I loved they way they placed speakers out in the crowd so the show was in "Quad" stereo..... I will always be amazed at how tight their sets were, and how much music just 3 men could produce..................Unforgettable!!!!!!!!!!!

I was at this ELP concert. We had front row seats right in front of Keith Emerson. Wow, what a great show!

Incredible performance as always for ELP, especially Karn Evil 9! I wish I could download it, but I know the Karn Evil is on the bands most recent bootleg album 'A Time and a Place'!

Saw ELP at Earls Court in around 73, great act, remember being four rows from the front and Keith emerson bringing a portable moog synthesiser, into the audience and playing, a great act, especially when his keyboard started to attack him, and he put a axe thru it !!! unbelievable showman and group in their time

I started playing drums in 1979 - age 8. I recorded this from one of the mentioned KBFH broadcasts and then listened on my casette player/head phones, trying to recreate the magic. Carl Palmer is one of the greatest drummers ever.

This concert happened near my hometown in OC...recalling years later, CP's solo in Karn Evil 9 is unparalleled. Its the one that got me into drumming. Still stands the test of time...these guys were gods and we knew it.

I like this a lot. I used to own the vinyl version of Welcome Back My Friends... about thirty years ago, and this brought back a lot of good memories. Did Welcome Back just feature recordings from the Anaheim show, or were there bits of other shows on there as well?

I never got see Emerson, Lake, & Palmer during the 1970's but was big fan
of their music. I did however in 1993, finally get my chance to see them at the Providence Performing Arts Center in Providence, R.I.. I was just 4 rows back from the stage and totally unprepared for what awaited me. When the show opened..... right in front of me was my favorite drummer in the world. Man I cannot begin tell you how great that show was. Though ELP had toned down some of their stage theatrics. Their music was still as good as it was in 1970's. It was sad that they had disbanded in 1998 but they did leave quite a impression in the rock world. Carl Palmer, you sir are the best. Thank you ELP for many years of great music.
