Jimmy Lyon was the best, classic tone and skilled. They were regulars at Winterland. Backed by Bill, we saw them a lot in the Bay Area.Great memories!

Eddie Money knows the product known as Eddie money as well as Rod Stewart knows Rod Stewart...But those of us who've seen Rod when he was with Jeff Beck know which Rod Stew product was better. So I say the same for Eddie Money and I would go one better. Not only did he do his best work with Lyon his band was more a "Band" when his drummer was Gene Pardue & his keyboardist was Randy Nicholes But that's just my opinion

Lyon is known primarily as the guitarist for Eddie Money in the late 1970s and early 1980s, and as a member of the Greg Kihn Band in the early 1990s. Lyon was the lone guitarist on Money's first two albums, Eddie Money and Life for the Taking. He was the lead guitarist on the albums Playing for Keeps and No Control. Lyon left after the No Control album, but did play on the song "Backtrack" from the Where's the Party? album, and later made a guest appearance on the Nothing to Lose album, playing lead guitar on the hit "Walk on Water". Lyon also played guitar on the Greg Kihn Band albums, Unkihntrollable and Kihn Of Hearts. Lyon is a certified pilot and a certified flight instructor, having worked in the aviation industry during breaks in his music career. Lyon is married and has two daughters. He is currently working on his debut solo album. Lyon's solo on the Eddie Money song "Two Tickets to Paradise" is generally regarded as one of the better guitar solos in rock history.[citation needed]

Jimmy Lyon was IMHO the heart and soul of Eddie Money's first two albums. His guitar style was awesome and holds up even today when I play the first album or Life For The Taking. Thanks for the show!

THE GUITAR PLAYER IN EDDIES BAND AT THAT TIME WAS ONE OF THE BST IN THE COUNTRY. HE STARTED STEALING THE SHOW-- AS MORE PEOPLE BECAME AWARE OF HIS GUITARISTRY. HE HAD SOME CLAPTON IN HIM-- ALONG WITH A LITTLE HENDRIX AND A TOUCH OF JEFF BECK AND JIMMY PAGE.-- I OFTEN WONDER--WHAT HAPPEED TO HIM AND WHY DID HE LEAVE EDDIES GROUP? MAYBE HE STARTED STEALING THE LIMELIGHT FROM THE REST OF THE BAND AND THEY DIDNT LIKE THAT?? WHO KNOWS--BUT WOULDNT YOU LIKE TO KNOW??EB.
