Concert Summary

While still promoting his runaway successful debut, Eddie Money recorded this performance for the benefit of promoter/manager Bill Graham's archives. Graham was also his manager, and guided his career for over a decade.

Opening with the forgettable, but typical Money-flavored, "Wanna Be A Rock 'N' Roll Star," he quickly moves into better territory with "Jealousys," and his read of "You've Really Got A Hold On Me." Recorded at My Father's Place in Long Island, it was a coming home party of sorts for the rising star, who was originally from New York but had relocated to San Francisco…entire summary

I WAS AT THIS SHOW,I THINK.THIS COULD HAVE BEEN THE LATE SHOW,I WAS AT THE EARLY SHOW.THE CENTER SECTION OF TABLES WERE RESERVED FOR FAMILY AND FRIENDS.I SAT AT THE TABLE NEXT TO THAT.THE BAND CAME OUT AND STARTED PLAYING WITHOUT EM ON STAGE.I LOOKED OVER AND SAW HIM CROUCHED DOWN IN THE ISLE AND WHAT MUST HAVE BEEN HIS MOTHER FIXING HIS HAIR.WHEN THE BAND KICKED INTO THE NEXT SONG A SPOTLIGHT LIT HIM UP AND HE JUMPED UP AND GOT ON THE STAGE.AFTER THAT HE BLEW AWAY THE ROOM.ALOT OF ENERGY.

Hey Murds, thanks for writing in. We talked to Skip Edwards about this tour; he played with the band for the first two months of 1978. Agreed: smoking!

At least they could do is get the personnel right, the rhythm section was Dave Danza, drums, Tim Sheridan, bass, Chris Solberg and Randy Nichols keyboards. And, yes, quite a smokin' set.

The vocals on this recording are muddled...too bad

A VERY COOL SET. THIS REALLY BRINGS BACK SOME GOOD MEMORIES. I SAW EDDIE AT THE FIRST TEXXAS JAM. HE WAS PROMOTING HIS FIRST ALBUM. THE SET REALLY MADE AN IMPRESSION ON ME. I WENT OUT THE NEXT DAY AND BOUGHT THE 8-TRACK TAPE! SINCE THEN, I'M PRETTY SURE I'VE PICKED UP EVERYTHING HE'S PUT OUT. THIS SONG LINEUP IS VERY CLOSE TO THE SHOW WE SAW THAT DAY, IN DALLAS.
