Concert Summary

Earth Wind & Fire emerged from Los Angeles after first coming together in Chicago in 1969. The band was formed by jazz/R&B session drummer Maurice White, who had been a popular percussionist at Chess Records and also a member of the Ramsey Lewis Trio. While a member of the Lewis Trio in 1967 and 1968, he developed his ability to play other instruments and began seriously writing R&B and funk music. He also embraced the kalimba, an African melodic percussion instrument, which was sort of a handheld version of the vibraphone.

Well what else can be said, I have loved this band since early 70's, no one can match em. my cd collection is over the top with EWF, they need to give FACES more air play. unfortunately, never got to see them until this decade and i think they were great but they had way better songs to play and i wrote to their and told them so. My favorite band of all times

I have always been a huge fan of EWF. I'm surprised there aren't more concerts of them here. They did a ton in the day.

These guys really rocked! I remember when I was in basic training in 1980 and we were allowed to finally go out for a night. My buds and I went to the enlisted men's club. There was a band there, it wasn't EWF, but the band did many of their songs and others types as well.I was enjoying the hell out of it and dancing. This one particular black guy that was in our group said, Hey. You didn't know black bands were anygood did you? He said that to me. And I was like what TF? What makes you think because I am white I don't recognize good music according to your tastes? lol. Heh, Music doesn't come in colors. It comes in messages to each indivudual. Wow. What a great play Mighty Mighty is on this recording! Oh, well, I'm just a white boy. lol.
