Poster Art Q & A

Description

The peacock shows up in Bonnie MacLean's artwork as a Yardbird reference in this dual offering poster: the Yardbirds performed three days, the Doors performed three days, and all six shows featured the James Cotton Blues Band and Richie Havens. The serene visage of this maiden was a clear reference to the detached spirituality of the era.

The postcard was printed once before the concert. It measures 4 9/16" x 6 15/16".

There were also some pre-concert double-sized mailers printed that were conjoined with the BG076 image (see BG075/076). They measure 4 1/2" x 14".

Promoters often created postcard versions of many of their concert posters and used them as promotional mailings. The postcards in Wolfgang's Vault are unique, small-format pieces of art that make a fascinating addition to any collection.
