Poster Art Q & A

Description

BG072 is one of the more famous images of poster artist Bonnie MacLean. As part of Bill Graham's penchant for pairing different musical forms on one bill, Rahsaan Roland Kirk, perhaps the greatest saxophone soloist in the history of jazz, opened for the Butterfield Blues Band.

The postcard was only printed once prior to the concert. It measures 4 1/2" x 6 15/16".

There were also some pre-concert double-sized mailers printed that were conjoined with the BG073 image (see BG072/073). They measure 4 1/2" x 14".

Promoters often created postcard versions of many of their concert posters and used them as promotional mailings. The postcards in Wolfgang's Vault are unique, small-format pieces of art that make a fascinating addition to any collection.
