Poster Art Q & A

Description

BG097 was Stanley Mouse's first independent poster in the original Bill Graham series and is an uncharacteristically serene composition of collage bordered by classic Deco graphics. Mouse called it his "Haiku poem, ... a series of visual syllables."

The 1st printing poster is identified by the misspelling of "B Grahm" right above "Lights" in the date and venue information. The original printing was produced in a run of 5,000 before the concert, and it measures 12 3/4" x 21 13/16".

The 2nd printing was printed after the concert on 8/19/1968 in a run of 1,250. An "A" is scratched in between the "H" and the "M" of "Graham", and "#97" has been added to the poster just to the right of the Stanley Mouse credit above the date information. It measures 12 3/4" x 21 13/16".

Wolfgang's Vault owns one of the world's largest collections of original concert posters, featuring hundreds of rock posters, political posters, sports posters, comedy posters and others that were previously unavailable to the general public. Virtually all of our concert posters are in mint condition, and many are signed by the headline performer or the graphic artist.
