Poster Art Q & A

Description

Lynyrd Skynyrd played the Cow Palace New Year's Eve December, 1989 and again in 1990. The former show reflected the band's success following their 1987 reunion, a group sadly missing Ronnie Van Zandt and back-up singer Cassie Gaines, and the latter heralded the Lynyrd Skynyrd 1991 Tour. Artist Tuten wanted to insert an element of danger into the band's promo and chose a snake and barbed wire, reasoning that "... the snake, barbed wire and Lynyrd Skynyrd could hurt you if you're not careful." The ornate logo, which Tuten modeled on a samurai sword hilt, was quite successful and was used to market the Tour and for the studio album subsequently produced by Atlantic Records.

Wolfgang's Vault owns one of the world's largest collections of original concert posters, featuring hundreds of rock posters, political posters, sports posters, comedy posters and others that were previously unavailable to the general public. Virtually all of our concert posters are in mint condition, and many are signed by the headline performer or the graphic artist.
