Photography Q & A

Description

In February 1968, Baron Wolman photographed Jimi Hendrix for the first time, first in his San Francisco motel room and then later than evening onstage at Bill Graham's Fillmore West auditorium. "For me it was a magical mystical moment. I was onstage - to the side, of course - with arguably one of the greatest guitarists of all time." said Wolman." I quickly found myself in the "zone," totally mesmerized by Jimi and his music, totally in synch with the band. As pretentious as it may sound, I even felt as if I were playing my Nikon, the fourth instrument in the Experience trio." That night Baron Wolman shot many exciting and dramatic images of the master in performance; this one being the favorite.

The 20x24 Matted & Signed version of this image is from a limited edition of 75.
