Poster Art Q & A

Description

Byrd gave Grace Slick an electric guitar in his modern interpretation of an Egyptian wall painting. Slick didn't play guitar, but Byrd thought "... it looked nice so I gave her one." Arthur Brown, a wildly theatrical British vocalist, rounded out the evening. The idea for the poster came from one of Byrd's art-class assignments at Carnegie Tech.

The postcard was only printed once before the concert. It measures 4 3/8" x 6 3/4".

Promoters often created postcard versions of many of their concert posters and used them as promotional mailings. The postcards in Wolfgang's Vault are unique, small-format pieces of art that make a fascinating addition to any collection.
