Poster Art Q & A

Description

Fans of the Dead and the Allman Brothers remember this concert like a happily married couple remembers their first date. The Macon, Georgia brothers were newcomers and the Dead, meeting them for the first time on the 11th, was impressed enough to deliver Duane et al the ultimate compliment and invite the Brothers back onstage for a jam session with Mick Fleetwood and Peter Green. Lucky Deadheads and Allman followers can listen to a recording of the concert series, thanks to Owsley Stanley, the Dead's soundmixer. Owsley did the mix for the Brothers, too, and taped both bands. This meeting at the Fillmore East marked the beginning of a long musical and personal relationship between the two bands and caught the Allman Brothers at the moment when anonymity gave way to accolades.

Much like theatrical playbills, programs have been used at concerts since the 1900s. With information on bands and their members, it gives the concertgoer a chance to get to know the musicians they have paid money to see. The Vault's exceptional collection of programs range over four decades from venues around the world.
