Poster Art Q & A

Description

These classic Detroit rock shows, ranging from June 7th – 9th of 1968, were the last time Cream played the Grande Ballroom. With over 2,000 attendees rocking out in 100 degree heat, the MC5 got the waning crowd riled up by announcing their plan to disintegrate an American flag. Needless to say, the Detroit audience was worked up into a frenzy by the time power-trio Cream took to the stage. Like the majority of Grande posters, Gary Grimshaw did the artwork for the poster, which incorporates a Cream promo photo surrounded by psychedelic paisleys. This is a classic Grande poster that documents the power-trio at a legendary show shortly before they disbanded.

The 1st printing poster is on porous stock and measures 12 7/8" x 21 1/16". It was printed before the concert.

The 2nd printing poster is on glossy stock and is smaller than the original, measuring 10 1/2" x 17 3/8". It was reprinted in 2005 in a limited edition run of 500.

Wolfgang's Vault owns one of the world's largest collections of original concert posters, featuring hundreds of rock posters, political posters, sports posters, comedy posters and others that were previously unavailable to the general public. Virtually all of our concert posters are in mint condition, and many are signed by the headline performer or the graphic artist.
