Concert Summary

By 1974, in large part due to Dickey Betts, Capricorn Records and The Allman Brothers Band were experiencing a success more lucrative than anyone could have dreamed. Betts, as a result, found himself free to pursue almost anything he desired musically, without having to worry about finances in the least. The situation allowed him to record his first solo album, Highway Call, and to perform with countless great musicians for the pure joy of playing, without any expectations of making money in the…entire summary

As a tried and true ABB fan, I didnt quite know what to expect from D. Betts away from the Allman brothers, but this set is a great concert. Got more of a country sound than the ABB. His band seems top notch, and its got enough long jams and ABB songs to please any Allman fan.

I saw Dickey countless times with his smaller band in the 80's,he had johnny neil on keys and future mule drummer. Matt Apts on Drums. He used to always play a ripping version of Hidaway back, then I wish he would add that tune to his current setlist.

Yes, the Allman brothers are still going and they still have great guitarists in the band. But, to me, Dickey and Duane, along with Greg, Berry amd the others are the real Allman Brothers. Dickey is such a tasteful guitarist as this concert shows, I just love his playing

I was at this show, and it's nice to find that it really was as good as I remembered. I guess it didn't sell a lot of tickets, because the balcony was closed off and the floor wasn't full. That struck me as really odd at the time -- I'd been knocked out by "Highway Call," but I guess a lot of folks weren't ready for Dickie/Richard's country side.

Damned yankee who grew-up listening to Southern Rock and in particular the Allman Brothers Band. And I thought the 13 minute version was fantastic... 41 minutes of In Memory of Elizabeth Reed - AWESOME! It doesn't get any better than this. Rock on Dickey!!
