Concert Summary

Very little is known about this band that moved from Carbondale, Illinois to the San Francisco area during the summer of love. A pioneer in the jam band style of music, this group fit comfortably on West Coast stages with the likes of the Grateful Dead, Quicksilver Messenger Service and New Riders Of The Purple Sage.

    Bob Laughton and I were buddys back in Barrington, Ill. in the earlly 60's and into folk and bluegrass belore he came out to the coast[S.F.]in the summer of love.I did not get here till July of 70.Haven't heard of any of this until just now through another of Bobs frinds,Dennis Swag.!!!!I have been in Monterey ever sence.     Love the music Devils Kitchen made, a real breathe of fresh air. I first heard robbieStokes on Mickey Harts / Rolling Thunder album over 20 years ago it,s still in my dads record collection. Great music like this stands the test of time thankyou Robbie Brett Bob & Steve :)

    Jonman - yes, Bill & I are related, we are 4th cousins... I went backstage at the Avalon once in '68 to introduce myself and we talked for a while, but otherwise, we haven't interacted or collaborated or even been in touch...
