Concert Summary

This is a complete recording of the late show Derek and the Dominos played as headliners over Ballin' Jack and Humble Pie at the Fillmore East.

After months touring with Delaney and Bonnie and collaborating with them on his first solo album, Clapton took the nucleus of his band - Whitlock, Radle and Gordon - and formed Derek and the Dominos. By 1970, Clapton had amassed an impressive catalogue on…entire summary

Agree with slowhandsfan....the best live record ever made showcasing Clapton at his peak with the Dominoes not to mention the late, great Carl Radle...how good was he??

@jonster If you want to show the young ones, highlights of these shows are available commercially on the "In Concert" album as well as the remastered/expanded "Live At The Fillmore."

The question, as always is WHY the darn aren't any of Derek & the Dominos concerts available for Download. How can we go out & show the "young ones" amongst us what a good band really sounded like ! John Knottenbelt Durban South Africa.

Jim Gordon was probably one of the all-time greatest drummers. What a groove. I knew him only briefly but was always a fan.
    This concert sounds great.

Patti Boyd was the woman; George Harrison's wife who EC had ther hots for. I have heard Clapton play live many times from the mid 80s through the early 90s. As incredible as he played whenever I saw him, I don't think he ever approached the blistering insanity of his playing with the Dominoes.

Just incredible!! Often he is playing against himself, trying to top the stream of notes he has just played. It's all just pouring out of him, like a firehose he can barely control. He is truly on fire himself, especially on the blazing Love So Sad. Who was the woman who inspired this? And to think, Layla was still to come. No wonder he was being called God back then. Thanks Wolfgang!!

Why does love got to be so sad?

When I listen to this concert, in addition to hearing Clapton, I'm loving Bobby Whitlock's keys and vocals, Carl Radle's bass and Jim Gordon's drums. An altogether stellar performance! And just in time for the 40th anniversary of Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs. Sweet!

Love Clapton I have been a fan since the Yardbirds. Have almost all his music. He has mellowed out some but who hasn't. none of us are spring chickens
