Concert Summary

Certainly one of the most popular bands of the late '60s, and by far the most commercially successful of all the Bay Area bands, Creedence Clearwater Revival knew how to rock. Captured here toward the end of their career, after they'd become a trio (Tom Fogerty had departed the previous year), the band performs an outstanding set that is undoubtedly one of the highlights of the Fillmore's closing week.

With the exception of two obscurities - "It Came Out Of The Sky" and "Door To Door" - this set is…entire summary

This concert kicks so much ass. I'm too young to have ever seen CCR, but boy, would I have loved to.

YouTube may send music of unknown bands to millions but nothing rivals the sweaty, smoky vibe of the old Fillmore East.

Amen Destrucity! I've been arguing that point with friends for years. Not only can't present day bands get recording contracts, there are hardly any places left to perform live anymore. I live in the New Haven area, about 70 miles from NYC and in the late 60's- mid 70's there were probably 10-12 places where bands played every night. Now there is only one and another one that has bands maybe 3 nights a week. I'm sure it's like that everywhere else as well.

There are bands out there like this today. There are hundreds of great groups and songwriters who will never make it big because everyone knows that payola is everything and the only thing that gets a band heard in the first place. There are better writers than Dylan, groovier bands than the Beatles, and better jam bands than the Dead, but if they're dad or uncle isn't an agent or their mom didn't get a quarter million in a divorce settlement, they're not going anywhere.
