Coldplay

If there was ever a band that was formed without the expressed ambition to someday become a famous band, it's Coldplay. In fact, the songs, successes, tours and hype have "... Been all on our own terms," according to instrumentalist-turned-drummer Will Champion. Champion and band-mates Chris Martin [vocals], Guy Berryman [bass] and Jon Buckland [guitar] are talented, trained musicians who indulged their instinct to jam while students at University College of London. From their 2000 debut, 'Parachutes,' to 'A Rush of Blood to the Head' in 2002, Coldplay has been the successful, but humble, object of Brit-pop fans' adoration and lives by Martin's sober words to "... Be uplifting without being pompous."
