Concert Summary

Recorded a few years before founding member and guitarist Terry Kath died from an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound, this original King Biscuit Flower Hour concert marks a time when Chicago was deep in the middle of a nearly ten-year run as one of the most successful pop groups in the world.

Having spearheaded (along with Blood, Sweat and Tears) the "horn sound" of the early 1970s, Chicago found a successful way to balance the big band and jazz elements of a pronounced horn section with the more…entire summary

Elliot Bloom - I can still feel, smell and hear the sounds of the outdoor show at Miami Dade Jr.College; youth, along with close friend brought us to hear a band we never heard of and....WOW, they blew us away. Followed the band until the untimely death of Kath. Today to hear this classic music brings back all those great days of 1969

Cetera was not chicago. It was a stew comprised of a sanguine sweet Cetera voice, ferocious guitar and vocals from Kath, precision horns, great writing from several and great musicianship from all, wrapped in memorable songs. If anything the sometimes ferocious chicago heard here cease on Kath's death, Jan. 23, 1978. They continued probably because of Cetera but as a sort of eunuch version.

this is just fantastic stuff. I remember even as a kid of eight or so listening to Dialogue Pts 1 & 2 and knowing that within me, within each of us, there was both voices from that song. We are all some interesting combination of activist and apathy-iest (I invented a word). Found the lyrics and the music to be very thought provoking then. These are great recordings with good audio quality that captures the talents of all the members of the band really well. Terry Kath remains to this day on my own personal short list of "most influential guitarist". rip sir
