Concert Summary

Taped during the Tunnel of Love Express Tour, this show was historic for a number of reasons. For one, the first half of the show only was broadcast worldwide on FM radio (in America, it was heard via the King Biscuit Flower Hour); it would also mark the first time since Springsteen's '78 Darkness On The Edge of Town tour that he would participate in a global simulcast. In addition, it was the last tour that Springsteen would play with his legendary E Street Band for nearly a decade.

Recorded in Stockholm, Sweden (a Springsteen stronghold of hardcore fans), this concert is a…entire summary

Thanks for your message,Rich Sad. My experience 'back in the day" was similar to yours but I too, stood by my guns. Bruce is indeed a R R treasure and I've had the pleasure of seeing him on the Darkness,River,Tunnel tours in my relative youth and a few times since @ MSG in 2000 and others. It was 'cool' to dislike Pop or disco or ...(fill in the blank) if you were a Pistols,Ramones ,Clash, etc fan and looking at it now, that stuff was relatively mild. I' still listen regularly to TP Elvis,Graham Parker and many other more 'radio friendly' bands. Music is what I love. Not the supposed genre of the music maker. Right on. Bruce Rules!!

Bruce Springsteen is a true American treasure. On this Thanksgiving day I am thankful that the boss continues to rock people around the world with his 2-3 hour shows. I've had the pleasure of seeing him throughout his brilliant career and some things never changes: the honesty, integrity and energy of the music. This recording has good sound quality and Bruce's typical energy level. I miss Miami Steve on this, but take comfort in knowing the E Street Band now contains both Little Stevie and Nils.

I recall a funny period in my teenage/young adult life when the Clash and various punk and new wave bands had captured my attention. Some of my fellow punk rock fans tried to convince me that I couldn't like Bruce and Tom Petty and still be a "punk". I tried to shun classic rock but how do you tune out the raw energy of "Adam Raised a Cain" or desperate passion of "Jungleland". Bruce helped me realize that music isn't about separatism as in "punks can't like classic rock". Music of many different genres moves me. Music should unite us, not drive us apart. It's OK if you don't like Bruce. But don't tread on me. I'll keep the boss, Mr. Petty, the Clash, Elvis Costello, Kings of Leon, Melissa Etheridge, The Beatles and anybody else whose music I enjoy. You can love Bruce, the Dead Kennedys, and Lady Antebellum at the same time. Why am I making this point? Because it seems like in every comment thread there is always somebody who wants to say "so-and-so sucks" or "you people are idiots if you like this". I feel bad for such closed minded people.

springsteen is absolutely phenomenal-as much as i want to dislike him for ridiculous reasons like fact how can man who never worked job a day in his life other than music champion working man or the fact that when he fianlly made it we put him on at rutgers and he charged more than others at time and told us price of tickets and number of seats so we could only break even despite being his homeys but fact is anyone who remembers those nights at the shore knew he was a killer guitarist-when did "we are the world" duet with stevie wonder wonder spent entire day redoing his part bc of bruces blowout voice-he still plays for hours (understandingly doesnt run over the lights scaffold anymore)resurrected gary us bonds career for period bc when he started his encore would be an hour or so of covers of early rockers--i guess im jealous bc about same age and jersey boy and wish i was bruce but id be dead a long time if that was the case -never mind
