Concert Summary

Recorded just a few weeks after the release of his first album, Greetings From Asbury Park, NJ, and about seven months before the release of his sophomore disc, The Wild, The Innocent & The E Street Shuffle, this historic performance is one of the earliest professional recordings of the Boss and his legendary E Street Band, who are heard here in their original line-up. It was recorded as part of the first installment of the King Biscuit Flower Hour syndicated radio show, which aired on February 18, 1973. The premiere KBFH program featured a triple bill of Blood, Sweat & Tears,…entire summary

There are covers that never should be made. Add Manfred Mann's just awful version of "Blinded by the Light" to the list. It shoud be banned for life.

I think AlaskaSlim meant Blinded by the Light, not Spirit ITN. These early recordings are indeed Dylan-ESQUE not Dylan robberies. Though they both write about desire and longing and irony, I can't remember too many Dylan tunes about 67 Chevys and escaping small towns. Different life experiences -different lyrics-different FEELINGS-different artists. Both amazing and iconic. Put ANY one of either's tunes on and watch people mouth the lyrics and move their heads or (in Bruces case mostly) play air guitar. Long live them both. Bruce is King!!

It's criminal the way two-bit moron critics disregard Bruce's first two albums. "Dylanesque"... as if that were a bad thing. Unreal. I'll take his first two albums over just about anything after "Darkness".

This sounds like the version of Bishop Danced that was released on "Traks" ...F'in classic

after he whispers the dialogue and first three songs, "Spirit" is so much better then M Mann's radio version that it hurts! The breakdown in "Thundercrack" cracked us up! ..and "do the limp"? hilarious!
