Interview Summary

After his monumental Born To Run was released in 1975, Springsteen was sent on a whirlwind tour of publicity, including being on the cover of Time and Newsweek. A legal battle with then-manager Mike Appel ensued, which kept Bruce and the E Street Band out of the studio and the publicity circuits for two years. With the release of 1978's Darkness on the Edge of Town, Springsteen was under the management of John Landau and seemed entirely rejuvenated.

This interview, recorded with Dave Herman when the band was in San Diego during the Darkness tour,…entire summary

It's 4:00 into the interview and I'm bailing. Bruce obviously cannot finish a sentence without saying "you know". It's bad enough when teenagers butcher the language with an inability to stop saying "like", but when an adult does it, it drives me crazy.....you know?

Some interesting early history of The Boss and how he formed the E Street Band. But I must agree, the interviewer's interuptions and overindulgence ruins what could have been an amazing interview at a pivotal time in Bruce's career.

I agree with the interviewer finishing Bruce's sentences, it really was distracting. I have heard several Bruce interviews and this is probably the worst. I think there were some great stories that could have been discussed and this guy just didn't get it done. In all honestly, Bruce seemed a bit guarded and was a tough interview.

Why oh why does this interviewer keep finishing Bruces sentences. Man, talk about being annoying.
