Concert Summary

This early show from Boston's 1977 appearance in Long Beach was recorded while the band was making Don't Look Back, their second multi-platinum release, which was released that year. The band was still promoting the first album, and most of this show consists of songs from that classic Boston record, which yielded hits such as "More Than A Feeling," "Rock & Roll Band," "Something About You," "Smokin'," and "Long Time." They do, however, offer up "A Man I'll Never Be," which, at the time, had yet to be recorded.

Saw this tour stop in Feb. 1977 in Rochester NY. StarCastle opened. My very first rock concert. I forever hooked on live rock n roll shows. Brad Delp one of rocks greatest vocalists. Very sad he gone but his voice will always live on.

Sounds real good. I also saw them in the Dallas at the Cottom Bowl. there were around what it seems 70,000 people there! A reviewer mentioned a long organ part during "Smoking" that kind of became a staple of their shows. Also, if you listen carefully, bits, and parts of that organ became part of the "Walk On" medley from Boston's 'Walk On' cd.

Unreal, and nice at a time when our world and our govt. is so screwed up. Takes me away from the garbage.

I saw this same tour at tiny Alfred University in Western N.Y. It was a big deal for tiny Alfred to land Boston and the band didn't disappoint. Sammy "the red rocker" Hagar opened. He was going full throttle and almost upstaged Boston. Not many people had heard of Sammy at the time - only that he had played with Montrose. I remember a long organ/synthisizer segment of Boston's show that was quite intricate and honestly boring. I think it was during the song, "Smokin'". Overall a lot of great memories.

I feel so sad that Brad Delp choose the path he did,and I feel for his family and friends. We'll never know what deamons he may have been battling. To his family, know that Brad will never really be gone, his beautiful voice will live on for countless generations to discover.Sings like an Angel...he IS an Angel.
