Concert Summary

Journey back to 1974 and Bob Dylan's return to the stage following a seven-and-a-half year touring hiatus. As Dylan and The Band made their way across North America during the first two months of that year, expectations were tremendous. The tour was the hottest ticket in town, so much so that the US post office had to set up extra mailboxes for ticket orders in many of the major cities. Over five million paid mail orders were reportedly sent in for the 650,000 tickets available over the course of the tour, making them the most in-demand ticket in the history of rock music. Forty concerts…entire summary

i was at the day show the day before this one. I was thirteen at my first concert without a chaperone and had read every article on this tour that i could find. this show changed my life, i had been looking forward to it like crazy but i was un prepared for the sheer magic that dylan and the band brought to the forum that february. I rememer trying to explain it to my friends, my siblings, t anyone who would listen. they did not and still do not get it.l after this came rolling thunder which i as a california boy was not able to see, after that bob pretty much gave up and has sucked in camparison to those wonderful years of 74 and 75, Today bob is an intentional parody of himself, he just goofs on the audience and i think is amazed that anyone would pay to see him at this point; he tries not at all. but back then.....

I was stll a kid in Bklyn. NY more into the burgeoning metal from Sabbath and Zeppelin, but I was soon to learn that Dylan was the man. The Band was "THE BAND" and none better have ever backed him...no matter how good the playing was.
Before the Band kicks into gear during this show Dylan sounds like he's searching for his pace. Once The Band gets into high gear Dylans stride follows/leads the charge.....Is there anything comparable today? NO, NO and emphatically NO!!!
The remaining members of the Grateful Dead in the carnation of Furthur bring alot to the stage and quite possibly the only thing around that has a genuine feel from that era....these days its inflated style and not a speck of substance save for a few....I do like Yo la Tengo an Wilco, but a vibe like The Band and Dylan created is no where to be found.

when i was seven, i remember my dad telling me about seeing this tour. 30 years later i went to see bob with him, still one of the single greatest experiences of my life. two of the greatest artists ever. song-writing and performance have never coincided so beautifully.

The music got worse or I just got old and stopped caring. Good stuf here Wolf!

Some (Wynn Doe) said bobby was changing his style again and they didn't care for it, bob didn't seem to notice or if he did, didn't care. bob did what bob wanted to do as is his custom and practice. I don't quarrel with his judgment. Bob abides.

It's considered bad form to express disgust and contempt for the music scene today, most of 'em ain't old enough to drink. Not to pick on anyone in particular, but I hope the Jonas Bros get strep throat and then gang kiss Taylor Swift, who then throws up all over everyone at the American Music Awards. So I'll just listen to these amazing Dylan & The Band shows and dream of the day when the sun will rise on a world worth getting out of bed for. Yeah, I ended that sentence on a preposition, eat me.
