Concert Summary

Journey back to 1974 and Bob Dylan's return to the stage following a seven-and-a-half year touring hiatus. As Dylan and The Band made their way across North America during the first two months of that year, expectations were tremendous. The tour was the hottest ticket in town, so much so that the US post office had to set up extra mailboxes for ticket orders in many of the major cities. Over five million paid mail orders were reportedly sent in for the 650,000 tickets available over the course of the tour, making them the most in-demand ticket in the history of rock music. Forty concerts…entire summary

It's considered bad form to express disgust and contempt for the music scene today, most of 'em ain't old enough to drink. Not to pick on anyone in particular, but I hope the Jonas Bros get strep throat and then gang kiss Taylor Swift, who then throws up all over everyone at the American Music Awards. So I'll just listen to these amazing Dylan & The Band shows and dream of the day when the sun will rise on a world worth getting out of bed for. Yeah, I ended that sentence on a preposition, eat me.

We waited in front of Rincon Annex, the main San Francisco post office, to mail our ticket order at exactly midnight. There were at least a hundred people doing the same thing, a real party. We were able to get seats for both shows at the Oakland Arena. My first and still best experience seeing Dylan. Definitely one of the greatest concerts I have ever attended.

This was Dylan and The Band at their best (on stage doing public concerts that is) I saw them on this tour when they stopped in Oakland, Ca. Now, the Band is no more because of death and internal bickering, and Dylan's stage performances are...well..."something to be desired" would be a polite way of putting it. Glad I got to seem them at their best.

Wish I would have been old enuff to see this fabulous group when they were at the top of thier game. I was lucky enough to catch Bob Dylan (time out of mind tour) at the Mobile Al. Civic Center 1999 I think. SRO close enough for Bob to spit on me. Great, great show, tight back-up band. Bob faked everyone out by playing Like a Rolling Stone in a reggae mode, nobody could sign along, so we just had to listen and jam.
