Concert Summary

Blue Oyster Cult was out hawking its successful live LP, Some Enchanted Evening, when this set was captured for national airplay on the King Biscuit Flower Hour in January, 1979. Much of it contains material also found on the Evening disc, with the obvious substitution of the covers the band always included in its live shows.

The live album had a brilliant remake of the MC5 classic, "Kick Out The Jams," and a less convincing version of the Animals' 1965 hit, "We Gotta Get Out of This Place." In their place for this tour was a meaty, but not too innovative take on the…entire summary

Classic BOC. Doesn't get much better than that. Amazing to listen to the Palladium concert in NYC from 1979 after seeing them perform at Emerald Queen Casino last night in Tacoma, WA.

There are few bands that are better live than Blue Oyster Cult. I just saw them for maybe the 15th time this summer with Rudy Sarzo and the new guys and they sound better than ever. Because they are masters of the live show this show is worth listening to and has it's fine points, but also has some warts such as the worst rendition of Stairway to the Stars I've heard yet. Their live albums are all good. Possibly the most underated band in rock, and definitely more deserving of a place in the rock and roll hall of fame than many of the also rans that have been admitted.

First 2 songs are poorly mixed :( but then it improves. Good show overall, wish the entire concert was available (what's here is only about 45 minutes). Nice to hear "Dr. Music" played live months prior to its album being released. btw, Lanier didn't leave til '85, and returned circa '88.

BOC had already included "Born to Be Wild" in their live shows for some time--it was on their 1975 live album "On Your Feet or On Your Knees."

Vocals need re-mixed on STTS. Joe Bouchard overwhelms Bloom at one point. Al Bouchard's drumming masterful, though!
