Concert Summary

Long Island's Blue Oyster Cult was in their rock 'n' roll prime when this concert was taped at Boston's Music Hall in October 1976. A DVD of this tour would later be released but as far as audio recordings, this is one of the best BOC live shows captured in that era.

This recording, although only containing five songs, is a good cross section of the band's musical landscape. Featuring older classics like "Cities On Flame With Rock And Roll" from their first album; newer tracks "Morning Final" and "This Ain't The…entire summary

I remember when they came to the Fox in Atlanta in 74? at the time they were the FIRST band to use lasers for a light show. Until then bands only had the liquid bubble stuff on the backdrop or mood lighting only. People were really freaking out, scared that the green lasers being shot over the audiences head would burn out their eyes. They just bounced it off a few mirrors, nothing fancy by todays standards, but it made the papers and the news. they had to explain that the lasers wouldnt hurt you unless you stared right into them. BOC were true inovators and are still touring.

TO THIS DAY,ONE OF THE BEST SHOWS I EVER SAW WAS B.O.C. AND RUSH, 1978,NASSAU COLISUEM,L.I., RUSH WAS STILL AN OPENING ACT,TOURING FOR " A FAIRWELL TO KINGS", THE FANS LOVED THEM JUST AS MUCH AS BLUE OYSTER CULT. BOC STILL WAS USING THE LASERS AT THAT POINT, THE EFFECT IN THE ARENA WAS FUCKING MINDBLOWING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I remember seeing these guys several times in the 70s and at the end of every show, all of them would come out front with guitars and jam..........talk about 3000 guitars........with ROCK and ROLL........

This is BOC at the height of thier success. Not an overnight sensation for sure. These guys worked hard for years in dives and earned thier fame. A document of the diverse ability to speed with Zep or Purple, enter the cosmos with Pink Floyd or jam like the five headed monster they were....Just listen...just learn...How can u deny the musical chops...One of the greatest, if not the greatest band to emerge from Long Island...America!

A strong set until they get to Fear the Reaper. Very enjoyable.

That wasn't too bad for Blue Oyster Cult. I always thought they sounded best live.

Unbelievable version of Morning Final. This was BOC at there most intricate--truly, at least for a time, the "thinking man's rock band." Unfortunately, they abandoned that ethos for more mundane ventures.

To this day BOC is awesome...seen them many times, will see them many more God willing...thanks Buck, Eric, Allen, Joe, Albert, and all the others that have been a part of the band (too many to list over the years)...Rock on!

I knew Joe & Al Bouchard in Clayton, New York, in the Thousand Islands, the St. Lawrence River, on the Canadian Border, where they grew up. They were not from Long Island. Full of hell, they were, even as kids. I was at several concerts, such as the one in Syracuse where Foghat opened for them. Yes, quite a show, as all of them were. These guys paid serious dues and worked very hard. It didn't come easy to them or for them but they loved it.
