For those of you unfamiliar with them, mojam was a concert finder – you could search for a band and find out where they were currently on tour. Or you could search for a particular city and find out who was playing on a given date. musi-cal was a sister site to mojam, a back-end system into which promoters and club owners could upload their schedules.

As a site dedicated to live concert recordings we felt mojam was a good companion that could be useful to our visitors, but the small number of visits it drew told us that you were using other tools for finding upcoming shows. There are a few; one of our favorites is songkick.com, a superb site with an excellent new iOS app; if you were using mojam before we highly recommend songkick.

Managing our vast concert recording archive is our most important task, and we’ve chosen to dedicate our resources to doing that. We hope you’ll understand. Cheers!

The new My Vault page allows you to connect with your Facebook friends and makes it easier than ever to explore, save and share your favorite Wolfgang's Vault concert audio and memorabilia.
[Getting Around the New “My Vault” is a post in From the Vault - The Wolfgang's Vault blog.]

Did you notice that things look a bit different today in the Vault Store and Concert Vault? Don’t worry, it’s not a flashback: we’ve added a few updates to the site this morning. The most fun new features, and the ones I’ll be introducing you to here, are improvements to your My Vault page that will make your visits with us even more personalized and enjoyable.

To get started, click here to follow along on your own My Vault page. If you’re already signed in, it’ll show up right away — if not, you’ll be asked to log-in or register (for free).

FACEBOOK INTEGRATION
Through a very handy, safe and non-invasive little plug-in, it’s now possible to see what your Facebook friends have recently been digging on in the Vault. Check out the right-hand side of your My Vault screen: if you’re not logged in to Facebook, you’ll see a stream of what people, in general, have been “liking” on Wolfgang’s Vault:

But to make this new plug-in really work for you, go ahead and click on one of the Facebook Connect/log-in buttons. Once you’re signed in, any time your Facebook friends click the “Like” button on any memorabilia, concert, or blog post from the Vault, it’ll show up in your My Vault stream. We hope you trust your friends’ musical tastes and that this will give you a more personalized way of discovering and sharing music. And, of course, it works both ways, so hit the “Like” button as often as you can to let your friends know what you’ve been enjoying lately.

(By the way, if you do have an account and don’t know it yet — Wolfgang’s Vault is on Facebook, too.)

YOUR FAVORITE CONCERTS AND PLAYLISTS
If you’ve saved concerts into your favorites list or created playlists in the past, they’ll be available to you immediately on your new My Vault page. Things will look a bit different however, with a new layout that makes it easier to scroll through and browse your collection. There are also new features that help you discuss (a link to the concert’s comment section), explore (a link to the artist’s performer page where you can browse all memorabilia and concerts from that artist), and share (a link to e-mail a friend telling them how much you love the show).

If you’ve never added concerts to your favorites list before, it’s highly recommended and as easy as ever – there’s an “Add to My Favorite Concerts” button on every concert page, or you can click on the heart icon at the bottom of the pop-up player window. This will allow you to easily access that concert any time (from a web browser or wherever you stream the Vault) so you don’t have to go digging through old newsletters or searching around the site.

YOUR FAVORITE ARTISTS
Another new feature is the “Artists I Love” section located on the left of your My Vault page. If you add concerts to your favorites list, those artists will automatically show up here as well. But you can also add artists directly to that list by typing into the search box – suggestions for artists will pop up as you type.

The artists’ names then become links to their Wolfgang’s Vault performer pages, allowing you to quickly access the entire collection of memorabilia and concert audio recordings for that artist – a quick resource to help you explore and stay up to date.

GETTING TO YOUR MY VAULT PAGE
We’ve added a link for your My Vault page in the header you see throughout the Vault Store and Concert Vault. You can now get back to your favorites, playlists, and friends quickly from anywhere on the site.

We hope these updates will make your experience with the Vault even better than before, and we think they’re super intuitive to use, so the best advice we can give you is to jump on in and try them out for yourself. But, if you do run into any problems or have any questions, we’re here for you: feel free to drop a comment below or e-mail our customer support team and we’ll get back to you ASAP.

Hello, Wolfgang’s Vault friends.

You may have noticed we added some changes and new features to our site today. It is part of our ongoing mission, in addition to providing you great new and unique content daily, to make the site easier to navigate, and give you simple access to the best we have to offer.

On the homepage and on our concert vault landing page, we have narrowed down and streamlined the features and updates because you told us the many choices we offered in the past were overwhelming. Now, each day you will find new items of interest, whether it be music features, special deals, or news we’d like to share.

Wolfgang's Vault Homepage Update

We’re working every day, taking your suggestions and feedback into account, to make the live music experience, and the retail entertainment experience the best it can be for you. Coming soon, we’ll add functionality to make your participation in comments and your visits to Wolfgang’s Vault even more personal. We’d love your feedback and thoughts as we roll-out these updates, and hope you will share your favorite things about our site with your friends.

Thanks for your support. Enjoy…

—Bill Sagan

Our simple goal here at the Vault is to make this a great place to discover and rediscover music. We think that live music and raw, unedited sessions provide the best formats to experience the music. We want it to be a site where you can enjoy listening to music, sharing stories about your experiences and connecting with fellow fans. We are a little biased but I would put good money behind our visitors being the most knowledgeable music fans anywhere. The level of discourse in the comments is on such a higher plane than you see on so many other sites (for a great example, check out the comments from this 1973 Rolling Stones Concert).

Over the next couple of months, we will be implementing more ways for you to connect with the music and each other. We have a number of ideas big and small we are working on and will share details as we get closer. In the interim, we would love to hear any ideas you might have. Let us know what you would like to see on Wolfgang’s Vault in the way of features, layout, whatever.

As always, thanks for visiting.
