Closing mojam.com and musi-cal.com

mojam-logo-maroonToday marks the closing of mojam.com and musi-cal.com, two sites Wolfgang’s Vault has been managing for a few years.

For those of you unfamiliar with them, mojam was a concert finder – you could search for a band and find out where they were currently on tour. Or you could search for a particular city and find out who was playing on a given date. musi-cal was a sister site to mojam, a back-end system into which promoters and club owners could upload their schedules.

As a site dedicated to live concert recordings we felt mojam was a good companion that could be useful to our visitors, but the small number of visits it drew told us that you were using other tools for finding upcoming shows. There are a few; one of our favorites is songkick.com, a superb site with an excellent new iOS app; if you were using mojam before we highly recommend songkick.

Managing our vast concert recording archive is our most important task, and we’ve chosen to dedicate our resources to doing that. We hope you’ll understand. Cheers!

If would have been nice to get a message or something. Interesting timing though. My laptop was eaten by a virus about the same time my smart phone went for a swim. With little paper back up, I was able to restore my calendar based only on my Musi-Cal page. You guys will be missed as Alvin says. Thanks for years of good service. But, hey, a dinner, flowers, or at least an e-mail would have been nice if you’re breaking up. –Tom

Musi-cal was a valuable tool to both artists ,venues and fans, most of whom would probably be willing to pay to use it if you brought it back!

I’ve used musi-cal for quite some time & it has been more than very helpful in helping with my musical outreach! Hardly EVER, ANY problems to speak of! ALWAYS, informative to the ABSOLUTE! More than user friendly, even for me!! I will TOTALLY miss being a part of the musi-cal family! Who knows! MAYBE, a change of heart will happen! I do hope so! You will be missed!

I have been using Musi-Cal since January 1995 and promoting its use on the above now obsolete page since 2001. Musi-Cal had a complete set of features that no other Itinerary site has. I will REALLY miss its being on-line. Between links to specific musician’s intineraries, links to its many Wisconsin venue database entries, and search links to concerts for scores of Wisconsin cities, I only have 1,196 links to “musi-cal.com” that need to be deleted from my domain’s pages now. All that valuable artist and venue information all gone!

Now I need to re-do the stations website Since 2006 for one of the features I was able to provide was the concert mojam system, sorry to see that go…
I hope you do well in your endevors. Thanks from the team of

Songkick does not compare with the ease of Musi-cal. What a pain to set up! With Musi-cal, you just put in whatever city you were traveling to and you got the information right away. No hassle. So sorry you felt this needed to be done.

uh, ok… i better go and figure out where i’m playing… hope i wrote it down elsewhere!

Musi-Cal was the only site that had local folk music listings, all the other listing services, including songkick.com which you recommend, seem to be mostly for rock music.

Sorry to hear. I’ve been using musi-cal for over 10 years, esp. when I’m going travelling. I hope there are other sites that include folk/singer-songwriter to the extent that you did. So how will I find out who might be performing in Cape Cod, for example, when I go visit there?

Thanks for all the years of service!
