Robbie Robertson- How To Become Clairvoyant

Robbie Robertson has made available one rare copy of the special Limited Edition Collector’s Set of his new release How To Become Clairvoyant exclusively for a Wolfgang’s Vault fan — register to win today.

It was 1998 the last time Robbie Robertson released a record. His history with the Band and the Last Waltz is well known, documented, and “liked” by Wolfgang’s Vault music fans. Now, his latest: How To Become Clairvoyant, released early last month, is a new hit. It includes the single “He Don’t Live Here No More,” which he performed on Letterman with Dawes.

In celebration of the accomplishment of this release, Robertson pulled together some of the great songs that didn’t make the record, and some of the great art, images and ephemera that the record inspired. He culled it all and hand curated a special limited editon box set: a package of art, music and collectibles for his most ardent fans. This is a project so special to him that he is signing each copy of the 2500 available.

The package includes ten bonus tracks not included on the How To Become Clairvoyant record. In an interview with Crawdaddy! excerpted below, Robbie explains where those rare tracks came from and how he chose to include them in the Limited Edition Collector’s Set.

The Collector’s Set also features a 13″x13″ music book, with CDs, vinyl records and 3 multi-track files on DVD, plus a 13″x13″ artbook, including rare photography, five signed special lithographs, specially designed tarot cards, and a digital download of the record.

Here is an excerpt from Robbie Robertson’s interview with Crawdaddy!

Robbie Robertson: … I’m telling you, I’ve just never had this kind of experience before. So that was one of the elements that kind of led me in this direction, to say, “Oh my god—we can do this other edition; okay, that’s kind of interesting.” It has ten bonus tracks on it. This is not a collection, or a “best of” or a “history of”—this is a different animal.

Crawdaddy!: In addition to the bonus tracks and the music itself, there are some other really cool things on the set, though. Tell me about some of the art.

RR: This guy that I know, this artist in New York—Richard Prince is his name—he’s one of the biggest American artists that there is nowadays. He gets like, six or seven million dollars a painting. So he said to me, “Can I do some artwork for your record? The music—I’m just inspired.” And I’m like, “There’s no downside here.” So I said, “Of course.” So he did five pieces of art for this and signed them. Some of them in this package are lithographs; some are in this book. It was like, “Whoa, that’s really unusual.”

C!: Aren’t there photographs, too?

RR: This photographer, who’s maybe the best music photographer in the world, Anton Corbijn, did a whole series of clairvoyant photographs.

C!: What are “clairvoyant photographs”?
