Dandy, with his distinctive southern drawl and contagious laughter, speaks passionately about the renewed Black Oak Arkansas. One of the best B.O.A. concerts EVER. Shame I wasn't even in the country, never mind at the Reading ROCK Festival that year.

    This band sounds so much better than I remembered but you have to admit, Jim Dandy singin' the Al Kooper cut "I love you more than you'll ever know" is pretty funny.

    Sorry Stanhope, but Tommy Aldridge is acknowledged as the pioneer of double (kick) bass drumming. But yeah, he's the man!

  • cosmos | Sunday, April 26, 2009 | 4:37 pm

    Their music sounds so fresh and crisp. very underated definitley the godfathers of southern rock. Jim Dandy imitated but never duplicated.

    Listen to Tommy Aldridge's intro to "Hot and Nasty"...so tight,so good.Double kick is with just one peddle,one kick drum...ala Bonzo! It's no accident this band played with so much funk.And yes,there may not have been a Diamond David if it had not been for Jim Dandy.(if your gonna borrow,borrow from the best).

    dazzled53, I think the song you're referring to is "If an angel came to see you (would you make her feel at home)".....this is of course, just memory, so I could be completely off base. Yes....I'm a product of the 60's and 70's too.....:o}
