almost 36 years ago-awesome!! Billy the kid is 1 of my faves-"from a town known as Oyster Bay Long Island rode a boy w/a 6 pack in his hand"I can relate......

Sound quality could be better, but otherwise fantastic recording. It's nice to hear him do "Piano Man" before it became his cliche song. I would love to have been a member of an audience that didn't know "Piano Man".

The drummer he has here, Rhys Clark was his during the WMMR radio program and at the Mar-Y-Sol music festival, both in 1972.

He did use studio musicians, until late '75 when he moved back to New York and did the album Turnstiles.

i thought that billy was forced to use studio musicians by the studio.these guys WERE his band at that time

I am willing to take a bet and say the band he had for this performance was the same he had on his March 1974 "Rock Concert" appearance: Drums- Rhys Clark Bass- Patrick McDonald Guitar- Don Evans

Its great to hear an artist (any artist) playing songs that are now warhorses when they were fresh, new, and exciting (and the artist is excited about playing them).
