Billy Idol

Billy Idol was a new wave-induced rocker whose clenched fist and sexy snarl are long forgotten by some and cherished by others. The U.K. artist kept the 1980s real with noise-inspired rock anthems like "White Wedding" and "Rebel Yell," and he was a regular on MTV with a punk rocker-meets-model-good-looks quality. His career took a downward turn with the '93 release of Cyberpunk, an album that saw Idol changing his rock to techno and his signature spiked hair to dreadlocks. His personal style and rebel yells set him apart from other rockers of the time, however, making the Idol an icon of the '80s.
