Concert Summary

One of several performances recorded during the middle of February, 1978 at New York's legendary Bottom Line club for the King Biscuit Flower Hour, this performance shows jazz fusion superstar Billy Cobham moving in a decidedly more adventurous and decidedly jazz-flavored direction than his earlier rock-driven tours.

By featuring saxophonist Alvin Baptiste, Cobham lurks in the shadow of jazz great, Charlie Parker, and gives us an idea of what Parker might have been doing if he had lived long enough to play with an electric fusion band.

Credit must also be given to guitarist Ray…entire summary

Saw BC last year at Blues Alley in DC. My brother got me tickets for my birthday. It was great! I've got most of his solo LP's and he signed one of them for me. I've seen him with Mahavishnu and in several clinics. Always fantastic.

This is when jazz was jazz! WV needs more jazz, jazz fusion, and latin jazz to be put up!

God he is so good, there are a lot of great drummers over the years but I'd put Cobham up against anybody ever. People playing with him must have been in awe of his greatness.

Great performance by great musicians. Billy Cobham keeps the drive and are hardhitting as always. A lot of musicians has a lot to owe to these guys when it came to what you really can do with your instrument and think music. Another musician I think of is late Frank Zappa who showed what you can do outside the boundaries of what commonly was accepted as easylisten good music in my opinion. Whithout these pioneers we shouldn?t have any progress in music. Said that, i know some would not agree, but it?s just my thoughts listening to this concert.
