Concert Summary

Big Country had been a hit act for nearly four years when this show was taped for the King Biscuit Flower Hour in August 1986. The band had recorded three other shows for KBFH before performing this one at the Tower Theater in Philadelphia, PA - a town that had been enormously supportive of the band since their earliest days in the U.S.

Big Country was formed in the highlands of Scotland in the late 1970s, and took little time to hit the club circuit…entire summary

I've seen Big Country probably some ten or so times over the years here in England. The comment above from "Peter alien" is absolutely correct - this band were enormously powerful in the live venues and never. ever failed to deliver a top rate show. From the word go, the band and crowd were up for it and "having it large" as the saying over here goes - what an amazing atmosphere they generated. I for one misss them very much - their shows and, in particular their musical sound, stood alone and thank god for websites such as this enabling us to tap back into it. One word of advice - their shows were always loud, so turn up the volume on this show as much as you can stand, close your eyes and imagine you are down at the front of the standing crowd bouncing around with the best of them!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was lucky enough to see 'Big Country' many times in the '80s. One of the best live bands ever. They always gave 100 per cent and could teach many of today's manufactured 'pop bands' a thing or two. They are sadly missed, but due too great live concerts like this they will never be forgotten. Keep live music alive! - Pete from England.
