Concert Summary

T-Bone Walker, Charlie Christian and Django Reinhardt all figure prominently as influences on B. B. King, as does his cousin, Bukka White and Sonny Boy Williamson, who played direct roles in his early development as a musician and blues singer. By the 1960s, B.B. King would transcend the tag of blues singer and would gain well-deserved recognition as a distinct guitar stylist, with a tone both sweet and pure. King's recordings would become a primary influence on the likes of Mike Bloomfield, Peter Green and Eric Clapton, who, along with Jimi Hendrix, would come to define a whole new breed…entire summary

His vocal style always reminded me of Elmore James. If you like BB you also gotta check out his greatest student, Peter Green.

Saw BB open for the Stones in 68' at both shows in Oakland became a fan ever since. Saw him in Vegas at the old Hilton lounge, the last show of night his voice was shot so he played a ton of guitar! That was probably around 1970- I'll never forget it!

oh yes, he is the King! The slow songs are really slow, and the fast songs, well...hold on! The little band sounds like a much bigger group, hats off to them.
I remember 1981 wh JLHooker took my backstage at Hammersmith Odeon: BB saw me and before I could introduce myself he says "you're the harp player from alaska"! Not only is he a great player, he's got one heluva memory for us players.

The greatest blues man ever! A great ambassador for the blues and a wonderful man. Live long and prosper.
