Concert Summary

One might say that The Average White Band was the British equivalent to the U.S. horn-driven funk band Tower of Power, and in a lot of ways they are. This recording, made two years after AWB had achieved an initial pop success with the infectious dance instrumental "Pick Up The Pieces," shows the band at its creative peak. AWB were huge in the late 70s. They opened up soul to a lot of people who'd never explored it. A great band that truly respected the originators of the music they loved. Oh, and this show kicks ass.

One of the original funk, fusion, soul bands to make it big and became a classic of the 70's music era. Loved their originality and sound. I only wished there were more bands like AWB that crossed the music genres so effectively. This is music, sweet music...
