By themselves, Morrison's lyrics read like adolescent posturing, but with his sexually charged delivery, Ray Manzarek's organ and Robby Krieger's jazzy guitar, they become eerie, powerful and dark. Although a blues-based band, the Doors established themselves as a national success in 1967 with their first album, "The Doors".
