After over a decade of trying to make it as a solo act, singer/songwriter Boz Scaggs hit the charts in 1976 with Silk Degrees, selling five million copies. A childhood friend of Steve Miller, he joined Miller's early bands as lead vocalist, and Miller taught him to play the guitar. Scaggs later went solo, roving Europe as a street singer and recording his debut LP in Stockholm. He returned to the U.S. in 1967 and moved to San Francisco where he reunited with Steve Miller for two albums.
