Boston's the home of in-your-face tea-parties, cab rides through Copley Square, trolleys and swan boats in the Public Gardens, but one of the most interesting rides of all, midnight types by homeboy Paul Revere not withstanding, is the one enjoyed by Aerosmith. Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton, Brad Whitford, and Joey Kramer were the nucleus of a ballad rock-hard rock band that struck a chord on and off stage with fans ready for the next development in rock music. Toys in the Attic, their third album, cemented their place in the pop rock pantheon. From that peak through 1989's Pump, however, the best prefix to describe Aerosmith might be 're': rehab of its members from drug and alcohol addiction and revitalization of the sound and musical direction. Re-directed, Aerosmith also demonstrated the ability to reevaluate; to wit, Just Push Play in 2002, and Honkin' On Bobo, a rock-blues effort with their personal stamp released in 2004. Aerosmith continues to record and tour today....less
