Aaron Neville is the third of the four famous Neville Brothers of New Orleans. His prisoner-style face tattoo and daunting physical stature somehow fade away as soon as he bleats out the most unlikely and unique, high-pitched voice that achieves total vocal refinement. He broke into mainstream music in 1967 with soulful ballad "Tell It Like It Is," a minor splash with arguably more soul that his later recordings, as he struggled over the next 10 years to make it in the industry.
