I can''t believe it first I just got into Aretha Filmore West then the box set and now video. Im like in awe. Sorry but Bill Graham is the holy shrine of the greatest era in music history not only history my life. Today stuff is so bland you can even hold a wicker not a candle a wicker and I don't care about Britney in HD 3D whatever Katy Perry and all that crap. It's plain out sad. And as for them now if there around they are most likely in the golden star years of extremely high ticket and box set prices. 48 dollars here is well worth all pennies.

Speechless! Wow! This is such a rare video. So glad I had the opportunity to see it. Aretha -- Queen of Soul-- 29 years old here.

The Queen in her prime! Four shows, two nights at the Fillmore West. The live lp release was drawn mostly from the last performance highlighted with Ray Charles sitting in. Aretha played the small Fillmore venue as part of a deal to record a live record and to "crossover" to a young white audicnce - hence the inclusion of Bridge Over Troubled Water, Love the One You're With, not typically in her set. Her regular band was replaced with a hot King Curtis and Band for this gig. If you're lucky to snag the limited four CD release of all four shows in their entirety you hear the band and Aretha getting better and better with each succeeding show. All told it was "church" and Aretha exclaims on closing night "This is more than I had any right to expect." Now to SEE what we've only heard on recordings is is such a monumental gift to lovers of Aretha's classic peak period. Thank you BGP!
